Treatment Options

OFFICE BASED OPIOID TREATMENT (OBOT)

This care model uses Buprenorphine (suboxone), an opiate medication, approved for treatment of opioid dependence in 2002.
The initial dose is given when the patient is in obvious withdrawal. Dose adjustments and supportive medications are used to control withdrawal and establish a maintenance dose. Length of treatment varies depending on the severity and duration of drug addiction and the recovery environment of the individual

NALTREXONE (VIVITROL)

Injectable naltrexone is another treatment option. This monthly intramuscular injection is an opiate blocker and can minimize the feeling of cravings.
